Du'ers who wear make-up: Did you notice any significant changes in your skin tone
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 10:14 AM by lionesspriyanka
between your mid to your late 20's.

There is something going on with my skin that is making Foundation/makeup look cakey these days.

I cant quite tell why. my skin is well moisturized, i apply a primer, even then my skin looks somewhat chalkey.

1. My wife just switched to an all natural make up
Can't remember the name (it can in a box) but it has had remarkable effect on her complexion.

All that swimming is great for my figure, but hell on my skin.

4. No, but I did notice a change in my skin around the time I turned 40.
You're obviously too young for those kinds of hormonal changes, though.

Do you wear a liquid, a cream, or a powder foundation?

12. I used to use Bare Minerals and LOVED it, but my skin is just too dry these days.
I've gone back to a liquid, though if I'm in a hurry the minerals come in handy.

I agree with the suggestions to try regular exfoliation (I use Mary Kay's Microdermabrasion one or twice a week), and see if that improves the look and feel of your foundation.

For primer, I really like Laura Geller's Spackle. It's very smooth and luxurious. I like the Smashbox primer too, but I think I like the Spackle even better.

6. You need something that'll clean off those dead cells
THere are 2 things I highly recommend - one is very cheap and the other costs some money but worth it.

I use St Ives Apricot Scrub (which is about $3 a bottle) - don't use more than 2 or 3 times per week but it'll exfoliate off all those dead cells.

The other thing that I love is Estee Lauder's Skin Idealist - I use that everyday and it helps keep my skin smooth for applying makeup.

And I still use moisterizer.

8. Some other suggestions:

AHAs and/or BHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids & Beta Hydroxy Acids)= good exfoliation.
Laura Mercier Face Polish (LOVE this!!)

Walgreen's has a store-brand AHA souffle in a white tub with a black lid = $7 or so.
For BHAs, right now I am using Neutrogena's Stress Relief 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment. However, the ladies on MUA swear by Paula's Choice gel or lotion for this.

15. that was so long ago, I can't remember!
 seriously, I don't wear much makeup, personally. Eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, that's about it.

I have friends who say the REAL change in one's skin comes after you turn 50. There's something about the elasticity of it that changes.

My advice: Drink lots and lots and LOTS of water. :D Moisturize from the inside, out.

:hi:
