3. ALL the dogs I've ever had have been mongrels. They do not seem
to know or care. Neither do I. My pets have all been delightful companions with great personalities.

4. This applies to cats too
Our three are all moggies, and tough as nails. Happy, healthy, fun pussycats. We've also had a purebred dog and cat, both of them had problems and died young; in the case of the cat she never made it out of kittenhood.

6. well, do you think people should get a dog that suits their lifestyle, and
abilities as a dog owner? do you think that people should educate themselves about the different varieties of dogs, and make an informed and intelligent choice of a dog that is right for them?
well, kinda hard to do that with a mutt. i have had some great mutts, but i also know a couple of people who have ended up with dogs that they never would have or should have gotten had they know what was actually in that mutt.
like right now my neighbor has a dog that i think is half rodesian ridgeback. she is very pushy and aggressive, not to mention large and loud. said neighbor has 4 little kids. the dog spends most of her days confined in a little pen, and is pretty much hated.
my daughter has a dog that she thought was half rott. she is more likely half pointer, flighty, fidgety, high energy. she loves her, but she is a handful, and not what she had in mind.
people think that pure bred dogs are about looks. but they are about predictability. i am all for that. i gave up on mutts. i have had a couple of real losers.

7. Even purebreds can be a crap shoot
We got a beautiful blue merle Sheltie many years ago, because every source said they were smart little dogs who were fun to be around. Too bad, this one was dumb as a box of rocks, and neurotic too. Just a dim, morose little dog. We still loved her, though. She only made it to eleven, too in-bred.

8. she was a mongrel, too.
pure bred dogs who don't meet the standard of the breed are considered the same as mutts by any reputable breeder.

9. And those who agree with that statement should...
adopt as many as they can afford from the shelters which have an over-abundance of them.

Spay and Neuter!!!
