How long do tomatoes last, in the open, before they go bad?
I know refrigeration is a no-no, so I don't intend to grow any in Alaska either...

1. I put mine in the fridge - they last longer.
Otherwise, it depends on the time of year - you being in MN, if you put them out in the summer, they'll go bad much quicker than if you put them out in the winter.

I can't really give you an amount of time, but I go by the rule of thumb of not having more than four or five tomatoes on hand at any time - that is, whatever I think I can eat in a week.

It depends on how ripe the tomato is when you get it...

I've had them take a week from total greenness to being ripe, at room temp!

Really ripe ones will be good for only a couple of days...
