I may be hopelessly out of the loop. Been with my partner for many, many years, and don't remember very many times where a shower immediately before occurred . . unless the shower was part of it all.

you can shower together, or shower separately and come out wearing only a smile. My girlfriend likes to put her towel down on the bed and air dry. I love it! Tease your partner a bit or do something to let him/her know what you want to do soon after the shower. Try different things and find something that works for you both. Try talking about this with your SO.

There's also the possibility that only one of you is freshly showered. If one comes home from work before the other one or whatever. Morning sex can work without showering if you really want to be spontaneous. Keep in mind that you probably have bad breath in the morning too. I don't want to get explicit here, but there are some positions that may be better than missionary in these situations.
