Is it safe for a cat to eat jalapeno?
Little Ricky just ate some jalapeno laced cheese. He's stupid, but that's a subject for another thread. Is he gonna have a tummy problem?

1. You'll probably have a litter box problem
I'm surprised he ate it, Usually the smell dissuades them.

My dog eats hot peppers off my plants then sits next to me at night and has the worst gas! :nuke:

11. Given how moist it is where you are til at least the end of spring
If you grow them from seeds, do it in the house with good light or a UV light ...you can go here for seeds for all types:
www.seedsforchange.com

or get the plants and put them in a planter box to grow them...if you are in a cooler more rainy area of the state

Peppers requirre pretty much the same conditions as tomatoes..since it's been a drought year, I have had both all year this year.

12. UV light will kill your plant
What a strange bit of advice?!? Cool white flourescents, 25W-40W compact flourescents or a 70W-150W High Pressure Sodium (HPS)security light will start pepper seedlings nicely!

14. Thanks, Harrad
He curled up in my lap and seems to have had no effects from his little culinary adventure.

7. He's stupid...
really really stupid.

Thanks.... I'll keep a close eye on the box. He will eat anything. Another one chews bananas -- in the peel!-- and leaves them for me. They look like they've been attacked by a vampire. Wrigley the vampire cat and Ricky Retardo. What a pair!

3. 'Kitty Colon Blow'
other than a messy litter box, there's no harm in him eating it.

4. He'll be ok
I have a cat that has eatened pepperjack cheese. Didn't slow her down.

I've heard that cats do not taste "hot" as in hot peppers. Does anyone know if this is true?

6. Actually,
Now that you mention it, I think Alton Brown said that cats aren't affected by the capsaicin (sp?), on Good Eats... I'll try to look into it..

5. If you smoke, keep Ricky away from you while you have a cig
in your hand tonight. That methane can be deadly.

I think he'll be okay. Maybe uncomfortable, maybe a little case of the runs, but he'll be okay.

10. I had a girl who used to eat that....
never had a problem. She'd eat ANY kind of cheese, even the really hot horseradish cheddar.

15. Safe, but not recommended. Feed ice cream.
What goes in, must come out.

16. You just gave Little Ricky an enema that's all
You might have to put a cold towel on his rear end after it finishes coming out in a week or so.

I would go out and buy some extra litter if I were you.

17. EEEWWWWWWW!!!
How do you put a cold towel on a cat's butt? No way he'd hold still for that. But, I'll keep it handy and if I see him being overly attentive to his butt, I'll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
