I just doubled the memory on my imac and it took 5 minutes
Which includes unplugging it, and taking into another room. One screw came out of a little access port underneath, the memory card plugged in, screw went back in and it was good to go.
I love macs!

1. Adding memory is easy on any computer.
Not just Macs.

2. I could do that in 20 seconds
because my case is still open :D

3. Lemme guess: New iMac, right?
My mom just got the 24" about six weeks ago and I covet that thing. The display seems massive, even compared to my first-gen 20" G5 iMac.

Upgrading the RAM in Macs has come a long way--I had a 7100 years ago and it had to be practically disassembled to add memory to it. Loosen screw, slide top of case off, remove power supply, unplug floppy, hard, and optical drives, remove another screw, etc. :(

5. Still, for a non-tech, I've no doubt it is easier on a mac than it is for a pc
even if simply because you're not staring at unfamiliar cables and systems because you don't have to open the case.

That's the gist of the OP, anyway.

6. You can double/triple RAM on Vista boxes
by plugging in a thumb drive into a USB port. Can't get much easier than that. Nothing like that for Macs.

9. Yeah
I know it's not the same but it does speed up the system, I tried it with my new pc which came with 3 gigs of internal RAM.

8. That makes sense...
I'm not a tech person, but when I had to speed up my comp I just looked for what matched the memory I had bought and locked it in. Viola! Much easier than I thought it would be.
