If insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results....
...then what's persistence?

1. It is trying for the same goal
but modifying your approach until it works out.

Insanity is never modifying the approach but expecting it to work

2. or Practice, too.
Or Practice, too.

That cute little insanity quote seems to get trotted out quite often-- usually because there are no valid arguments left and the individual is still trying to look clever.

It's right up there with 'agree to disagree'-- that is, both meaningless and popular.

5. Persistence is
seeking the same end result - not necessarily the same goal.

For example, a newly licensed young attorney might not be able to secure employment in a law firm, might not have the resources to start his/her own practice, and might not have the clientelle to support such a venture even if they have the resources. A persistent young attorney might well consider alternatives other than the practice of law to earn an income. Earning an income is really the desired end result not practicing law.
