16. I was on my way to my class in Venice Beach today at sunset and thought of you.

I drive along the beach via Rosecrans to Highland then north through Playa del Rey, and I thought CP should take a picture of this sunset and you did!! I love this time of year when Los Angeles has a snowy mountain backdrop. This is one of the pictures in my mind's eye of home when ever I'm away for an extended time. I love this town, I am one of those very rare native Angelinos, and I would not live anywhere else.

17. One thing I miss most about the LA area is ..... skiing.

cross-country, on the Angeles Crest Highway in midwinter, also up around Frazier Park on Mt. Pinos. Amazing views of the desert while in snow.

The first time I saw snow on the mountains in midwinter, I almost wrecked my car. I had no idea that big mountains were so close.

It is beautiful, with terrific views. In the coldest parts of the winter, the snow level can drop down to about 3000 feet, but there is almost always snow above 7000 in the winter, and the Angeles Crest gets that high.

Have you been to Big Bear Lake, or Arrowhead? Idlewild is also very beautiful.
