Free Wi-Fi spots?
Starbucks? Caribou? Bookstores? I've looked at their websites and WiFi is listed, but no indication if it's free.

7. In the Twin Cities, Caribou has free wi-fi for two hours
It didn't use to, but it had to compete with Dunn Brothers, a locally-owned chain that has free wi-fi.

Starbuck's is affiliated with T-Mobile, which charges per month, per day, or per hour.

and found that out. So much for free access, they want $19.99/day to use their system. No thanks.

13. Just plop down anywhere and try it...
anymore it seems like there's always an open network within laptop distance. Stayed in a cheap hotel last weekend that had it... but I think just because it was cheaper to put in an open live connection than to install an elaborate system to make everyone pay, train their staff, etc.

go to that web site, people list where the good spots are.

B-)

edit: Besides Panera Bread, a lot of indie coffee places have free wi fi. Whole Foods does not, unfortunately. Last I heard ATT wi fi was going feeless but I don't know what happened to that (Starbuck's in Barnes & Noble)

21. I'm looking for someplace warm to park myself for a few hours
my thermostat is set between 50-55 and it has to stay there. I can't afford heating oil.

I'll try and find a Caribou or Panera.

22. If you're in town you should go to Cup O Joe
Lennox, Clintonville, German Village

(or Stauf's in Grandview)

They all have free wi-fi and tasty beverages. :)

Plus it's a local chain, so i like supporting them.

25. Let me know if you want company!
I was thinking of going to work there for a few hours -- i usually get more done at a coffee shop than i do sitting at my house. And i'm working on a manuscript that i have to finish!

30. Starbucks is pay. Caribou is only a free hour, then you have to buy more coffee.
In my experience of traveling all the fuck over the place, those are the only two that I've had to pay and/or had any kind of limit to how long I could stay online.
