Sometimes I'm not the brightest bulb in the ol' chandelier...
Too cold tonight to go outside on the screen porch to have a cig.

So I had a few inside.

But now the house smells like smoke, which I don't like, so I had to turn the heat off for a few minutes and open some windows to let some fresh air in.

Fresh air, need I point out, that's the same (too cold) temperature as it is out on the screen porch, to which same porch it was too cold for me to go out to, and has now reduced the temperature in the house to the same inside as out.

If that sentence makes sense. Because sometimes the things I do don't. Make sense, that is.

2. Nah, I prefer the wide-open spaces of the screen porch. I just have to remember
that I'm supposed to be a New Englander, and not let a little bit of cold weather bother me.

9. I don't mind. Who's Jill Phipps? A short note via PM would satisfy my curiosity,
and save my lazy-ass self from doing a Google search.

12. Well, now, I'll eat some animals, but that's just wrong. She deserves to be honored.
There are causes that, although I not not subscribe to them myself, (this is going be a mangled sentence because I'm tired), I'm damned impressed that some people believe in those causes strongly enough to put their lives on the line for such beliefs.

He (or she) who would give his (or her) life for his (or her) fellow man (or critter they consider to be their fellow)...not much that's nobler than that.

11. But, but, what if something else gets me first? Then I'd have gone without the enjoyable
(yes, I really DO enjoy them) moments, like the morning Parliament with a cup of coffee and the newspaper.

8. Ah, it's OK, they mean well. Besides, I've been nagged about this for a LONG time,
so it kind of bounces off.

13. God, I HATE when I used to do that
The best thing to do is to find either a big down comforter, or pile as many blankets on the bed as you can, then climb under them.

I love sleeping in a cold room under a mess of blankets. One good thing about growing up in Minnesota is that you get to do that nine months out of the year.

14. Just think about Alaska, where all smoking in public places
is banned. These poor bar patrons have to go outside.

15. Coulda been worse -- you might have locked yourself outside...
With only the demon tobacco to keep your fingers warm.

Sometimes it's just a Laurel and Hardy world -- :toast:

18. I quit in '92 and then, after listening to some subliminal CD's, started up
in May of this year. I then quit in August. I really enjoyed it but it's just not my lifestyle (jogging, meditation, etc.)anymore. I quit by taking a new medication called Chantix. The results were outstanding. My physical craving/addiction was totally handled with this new med. I only had to take it for one month. The hardest part is the Psychological part.
I agree what someone else said about the bathroom. It was the best place for me since I didn't want the whole apt. to smell of smoke either. I kind of gave the bathroom some "ambience" to make it a more pleasant space in which to be. I hope you're able to consider the possibility of quitting. (I hated it when people told me that - I wanted to slap 'em BUT I knew they were right). I know how hard it is.....good luck :-)
