Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 07:04 PM by redqueen
The song I liked on it (of course) was Peter Gabriel's I Grieve.

Oh wait... you mean Godzilla.

Yeah, I just have sort of a thing for Broderick and Reno... and special effects... and things blowing up... that kinda stuff. :P

19. DON'T get me started on the remake of "101 Dalmatians".
John Hughes is a woman-fearing, conservative asshole who felt the name to insert his own special beliefs about the place of women in society in a movie about dogs. He's a sick, talentless hack.

I also saw "The Ladykillers". It was very disappointing for a Coen Brothers movie.

24. He made a couple of good movies,
but then he became a conservative asshole who copied his own successful ideas over and over AND had this weird, pathelogical hatred of working women that shows up (irrelevantly) over and over again in his movies of the '90s. The last movie he wrote, Maid in Manhattan, is about a super-nice Republican Congressman who falls in love with a poor woman (Jennifer Lopez) and finally is able to make sure she never has to work again.

I know I'm over the top, but I hate the man. I'll glad his career has tanked.

25. Steve Martin should never be forgiven for the Pink Panther remake
Yeah, I KNOW he was one of the Festrunk Brothers, and I KNOW he was in The Jerk, and I KNOW on and on and on and on.

None of that has anything to do with the fact that he whizzed on Peter Sellers' legacy and should never be forgiven for it.

NEVER.

26. Man, I've seen more of these than I should have!
I agree that "The Fog" and "The Stepford Wives" sucked; two very bad movies. "Alfie", "The Hitcher", and "Poseidon" were nothing great, either, but not completely horrible IMHO. "The Ring Two" was definitely a step down from "The Ring", but I actually preferred the American remake to the Japanese original regarding the first part; I've never seen the original of the second part.

I would actually disagree on "When a Stranger Calls"; I thought it worked pretty well as a traditional horror movie. I've never seen the originals of the ones on this list that I've seen the remakes of, though, so maybe that would make a difference in my assessments.

28. "The Haunting" (1999) should be high up on that list...
The original 1963 black-and-white film is a minor classic of horror/suspense.

But the remake is crap, from first frame to last.

34. They thought it worked
Rob Zombie's new take on 'Halloween' is just one of many recent remakes of classic movies. Sometimes it works ('The Italian Job'), sometimes it seems like a good idea but proves a debacle (Tim Burton's 'Planet of the Apes'), and sometimes it's just an awful idea from jump ('Psycho'). We count down 25 remakes we wish hadn't been made.

36. Yikes! I can only say I disagree.
Very strongly. They turned a quirky, funny, and very English movie into just another "heist" flick. It was like "Gone in 60 Seconds" with Minis.

The original was scary, prescient and kicked ass.

It's a pretty arrogant and stupid actor who thinks he can follow in the footsteps of James Caan.
