Anybody got an iPhone?
If so, can I have it?

Seriously, I'm thinking about getting one and I'm wondering if it's worth the cost or just a lot of hype.

1. I love mine!
And no, you can't have it. :P

I don't even think of it as a phone, it's more like a small computer that can make phone calls. I use most of the features regularly; the calendar, maps, email, camera (which takes surprisingly good pictures), contacts, weather forecasts, text, iPod, web browser, etc. The only feature I don't use regularly is the stock tracker, but that's only because I'm not an active trader. Not to mention that I really like the interface (it's very easy to use) and they *say* it's virtually indestructable...although I'm not willing to test that theory with my phone. The plans for phone and data minutes offered by AT&T Wireless are reasonable, and their service seems to be pretty reliable.

I know that they're costly (mine was $399), but if you lead anything close to an active lifestyle where you're always on the go, I think it's worth the cost. If you're in the market for a new phone, I would highly recommend the iPhone.

3. My sons have them and love them inordinately. I mean, they LOVE them.
To me, the iphone is just a small rectangular miracle. I don't understand it
on any level!

4. I have the iPod Touch..
It is basically the iPhone without the phone and I fucking love it. Where I live it is easy to find a open WiFi connection. I can sit on the bus waiting for it to leave the station and check my email.

7. Same here
I have the iPod Touch and I too fucking love it. There are times everyday while at work I am able to get enough stand-by time to watch Democracy Now's daily podcast. Then of course there all the music and other video shows you can down load into it.

The WiFi of course is great. But unfortunately while at work there's no hot spot where I get connectivity, so, no reading or posting on DU while at work..

I seriously love it.

Stuff I like about it:
*The internet browser (just like your computer internets!)
*WiFi capability (super-fast!)
*Text messaging appears in AOL instant-messenger form (it's a conversation, not random texts!)
*iPod capability (8GB is quite a few songs, actually)
*iTunes capability (only works with WiFi, but no more 'I'll download it when I get home')
*Movie/TV shows (the screen is relatively large and the picture is amazing, as is the sound)
*Google map feature (step by step directions and shows traffic flow on freeways!)
*Camera (no flash or zoom, but the pictures are really high quality)

I'm sure there's more, but that's right off the top of my head.

Things that could be changed/take getting used to:
*On-screen keypad. There's a learning curve, but once you get it, typing is amazingly speedy. Also has great memory for words you use often
*Battery: it needs to be recharged daily, especially if you're on WiFi or using the iPod a lot.
*Ringtones: you can only get them from iTunes, and very few songs have the ringtone option
*AT&T: I hate the company and the signal strength is weaker than Verizon's. Has absolutely shitty reception outside of cities (as far as I can tell)...though the cost of the plan is completely reasonable.

If I think of more, I'll let you know!

8. Do you use a Mac? I thought you did.
If you do you can use Garageband to make ringtones from any song you have in iTunes. They just added this a few months ago so you will need current versions of the software.

You can also import any mp3 or AAC file and it will work.

10. Only downside I've found is that it won't sync to-dos

Other than that, it's fabulous!

11. I have on. Adore it.
And if you want it, you can't even pry it from my cold dead hands, because I'm going to be buried with it.
