Ever been in The Louvre?

I thought I was once, but it turned out to be the Musée du Luxembourg.

2. Well, at least they're both in Paris.
It would really have been silly if you'd actually been in Luxembourg.

4. yes, in 1959. I was 11 and dying to see the Mona Lisa..but was more blown away
by the Winged Victory of Samothrace, which stands at the end of a long collonade and you sort of round the corner and there it is, monstrously huge to an 11 year old and so beautiful. Venus deMilo was pretty awesome too. But Winged Victory just stopped me dead in my tracks.

I would so love to go back and see that stuff as an adult

7. Yep.
But it was 1983. The glass pyramid wasn't there yet.

I wish I could go back now that I have an art history degree.

At the time I was like, "Christ! ANOTHER Madonna???!" :eyes:

:D
