I'm going crazy (a business rant)
I'm trying to get more customers for my business, but I hate cold calling lawyers.

My website should be up next week (taking forever). The Yellow Pages are expensive and they lead to a lot of crazy calls, but I might have to do it anyway.

I will be making a big deal about it when it finally is ready.

1. the yellow pages were free for me
I just had a listing, and not an ad, but it still seemed like people called my competition first, because of the alphabet. Good luck.

2. there was an article in the NYT yesterday or in the last few days
about blogging/social networking as a way to recruit more customers in your field... they said that legal issue websites had been quite useful for folks who work in that field...

I think it was in the business section...

3. I hope you'll seriously reconsider...
...linking your professional life to a lefty political web site like DU, particularly if you're trying to drum up business among lawyers.

5. lawyers are a very difficult group to canvass or cold call
check out your local bar association: they usually have social functions that members of the general public can go to. these can be good networking events.

if you haven't already done it, invest in chamber of commerce memberships. another good way to meet people.
