My husband is distantly related to both John Kerry and Howard Dean
I've been tracing down genealogy links at http://members.aol.com/wreitwiesn/candidates2004 and I've found three connections to Kerry and at least four to Dean.

I'm not saying this as something to boast about -- but it does take some of the curse off having multiple lines of relationship to the Bushes.

On the other hand, Kerry and Dean are both related to Bush as well. It's those old Massachusetts and Connecticut families -- by this time, everybody with early ancestors in those places can't help being related to everybody else.

But Dean is also related to Elvis Presley -- which is a whole lot cooler.

3. yeah
His father's side has been here only since the early 1900's, the Kohns is what they were originally, they were Czech Jews who converted to Catholicism, thats the story of his name change I think.

4. so basically, you're (sort of) related to Elvis, via Howard Dean?

I'd say that DOES go a long way towards repudiating the Bush connection. (The rest of you clearly got the "cool" genes, I'd say!)

The ancient prophecy foretells that a man will will arrive to unite the Dean & Kerry tribe and lead us to ultimate victory over the forces of darkness.

Does he have donkey-shaped birthmark on his his butt and a third nipple?

Would tell you Howard Dean has the best chance of beating Bush, going by these accounts. He traces back to the Stewarts, the Plantagenets, the Capets. All the right friends.

This, according to Brooks-Baker, is the reason why President Clinton won the election, for he boldly asserts that “The presidential candidate with the greatest number of royal genes has always been the victor, without exception, since George Washington.”

DEAN CAN WIN!

Hee hee, don't say a word to David Ickes, lest he be revealed as a lizard-person.
