9. Oooh... pretty cherry blossoms.
I need to get a job so I can save up for the tats I want... I told myself I wouldn't get any tattoo unless I've wanted it for at least 5 years just to make sure I didn't get anything I'd regret. The first three I'm gonna get I've wanted for like 7 years now, but I haven't had the money. :P

14. Might be a little difficult...
the main one I want is big, ornate, and would cover about 3/4 of my back. :)
Picture this

running from the base of the neck down to the curve of the back.

I might replace the text with sindarin though.

16. going to a botox party, it should be fun and cheap!
isn't it sad? too bad tats aren't temporary and botox isn't permanent, in later life you'll spend more $$$ to either modify or have the tattoo removed as you realize that mature people don't look especially attractive with cherries inked on their bodies but who would ever regret having a wrinkle removed?

life is all bass-ackwards

don't mean to be a buzzkill and perhaps it's too late now in any case, but the path of repeated tats really closes so many doors, cheap? god knows what it will cost you over the years in lost opportunities or even just the freedom to pick out clothes easily in a store

Personally, I like being able to communicate my feeling through facial expression, but hey, to each their own.

All of my tattoos have really prevented me from becoming a supervisor for a cancer research faciltiy. Oh wait, no they haven't!

People do all sorts of stuff you may not approve of, life is too short to piss all over other people's decisions that don't affect you. Deal with it.

35. I am middle aged, and I got a tattoo when I was twenty.
I do not wish to have it removed. In fact, I will be redoing the colors in it, since it has faded.

Not everyone who gets a tattoo regrets it.

Have fun! I fucking HATE getting tattooed, but love having tattoo's. Finished up the easy parts of my sleeve a couple weeks ago, so now it's on to the ouchy suckball inside of my upper arm and the elbow.

31. Gonna have to amicably disagree with Ms. Phoenix...
I think the reason that nobody 'winces' on the TV shows is that they're afraid of embarrassing themselves. Also... for the most part... the camera ops don't concentrate all that much on the client's face until it's almost done, and by then the endorphins are running, and that takes the edge off tremendously.

Depending on where the tat is placed (over shallow bones or high-density nerve areas), it can be pretty danged painful, especially if the tattooist is "heavy-handed" with the gun.

My personal experiences... yours may vary:
The pieces on my arms varied in severity, even though they are identical in size, and symmetrically placed. They were done by different artists, one of whom was harder with the gun than the other.

The one that actually HURT me, though was the necklace piece that i have.
Before we started, the tattooist asked me if i had ever gotten a tattoo before.
When i told him it was my first, he laughed and told me i was abso-fuckin-lutely nuts.

Several hours of the gun on my breastbone, then more hours over my collar bones, as well as around to the top of my spine in my neck.
yeah... big fun there. Glad it's over with.

41. You're right - they never (or rarely) show you the person's face while they're doing the work!
I guess the needles they use must be pretty short and the rpm's must be very high,
or something.

43. yeah... the guns go at about 2500 sticks-per-minute....
and they only go in about 1/4-inch or so...

That incessant humming can be nerve-wracking after a while.

45. It feels like an electric cat scratch when it's being done...
It's hot and irritated and stuff...
Later, the skin is still uber-sensitive and ouchy for a bit.

However... if you have someone special to play with, the sex afterward is AMAZING...

Anyone else remember that old SNL bit?

Guy #1: Hey, we've got our apartment. We ripped up the floors, pipes, wiring, and having everything completely redone. Guy #2: You're renting, right? Guy #1: Yeah.

Guy #3: Well, he's an ex free-base addict, and he's trying to turn around, and he needs a place to stay for a couple of months.

Guy #4: Now that I have kids, I feel a lot better having a gun in the house.

Guy #3: I thought about it, and even though it's over, I'm going to tell my wife about the afffair. Guy #2: Normally I wear protection, but then I thought, "When am I gonna make it back to Haiti?"
