although, my son was watching one of those hyperbolic, old- style Footbal/Superbowll films from the 60-70s and the commentator referenced Gertrude Stein!

I was shocked.


Evidently the commentators back then were considerably less culturally impaired and more erudite!

4. Well, back in the 60s and 70s, the networks were still hiring literate people.
They had the idea if that someone was going to speaking on public TV, they should have an education, be cultured, and be able to use English.

Of course, those are all handicaps now, especially in the field of sports "journalism".

Back in the early 80s, when we were making the switch from informed, intelligent journalists to big chested and/or hatefilled jackasses.
