I don't know about the folks in freeper land, but I don't have an extra $30,000+ lying around.
That would be over 100% of my current income. For 1% of the population that the freepers are trying to protect it would be .0001%. If I were forced to pay that, if most of YOU were forced to pay that nearly 99% of us would be forced into the poor house.
Furthermore, what does the government do during the time you're waiting for all of us to pony up our $30,000? Does it come completely to a standstill? Do we discontinue funding of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Do we stop paying our postal workers and our police officers just to balance the budget? Currently over 60% of what this country owes came from Republican presidents, what do you think we can expect from the current president? Do we bleed the people who can't afford to pay the $30,000 now and then another $10,000 next year and the year after that just so the 1% of the population can continue to get rich at our expense (government kickbacks, monumental tax breaks, etc)?
I think that if you get billions of dollars from the citizens of YOUR country, you should be willing to pay more for the privilege of living and working in a country that you share with other poorer citizens. Unless you happen to be too much of a greedy bastard to care for those around you.
