3. Other,
Things can be going along so smoothly and then Granddaughter's father(my daughter's ex) has to pull his annual crap. I think he does it just to upset my daughter and attempt to ruin her/our family gathering.

or else he's totally stupid and doesn't understand that under their shared parenting agreement, he gets his daughter on Christmas Eve day and Christmas eve OR Christmas Day..not both.

 :grr: :banghead:

8. Wrapping presents. I just finished, whew!
It's never done before Christmas eve and I'm always up late doing the job. This year it was considerably easier, because we are keeping the gift exchange very low-key. But STILL!

My parents are quite old and I love every moment I can spend with them. Soon I won't have the opportunity.

11. Nothing! I love the holidays, getting together with family...
the hustle and bustle, laughing at people who get so stressed that they lose it in the grocery store on Christmas Eve. I love my mother's pierogi, shrimp and sea bass (caught by my brother) dinner, and am looking forward to seeing the rest of the family tomorrow.

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

13. That it celebrates the birthday of someone who, in all likelihood, didn't exist?
Other than that, it's great!

14. Christmas Eve is such a mixed bag for me.
My Grandfather died on Christmas Eve before I was ever born. I know it bothers my Dad a great deal every year--and that makes me sad.

I learned not to shop early because my kid is VERY smart and observant as hell. Hiding anything in this house is next to impossible--short of putting it in the attic which is only accessible with a ladder in my closet. We are always shopping late because of this, and as a result we wrap on Christmas Eve after Material Girl goes to bed.

I love to see my kid excited by the holiday, but I have got to confess that I am OVER the hyper-excited kid thing by the time Christmas gets here. My kid is not a bad kid, but she just gets wound up on Christmas Eve to the point that I can't WAIT to put her to bed.

Hope you all have a happy holiday!

Laura

Sorry to hear about that. This isn't a fun time for a lot of people, for a lot of reasons. I hope you find some happiness through the holidays.

20. I gave 1300$ to a friend
so she could have a good xmas, and now I am feeling crappy because no one gives half a shit.

I give, and there is no karma. Stop believing in karma. It does not exist.

21. Going to church.
To be specific, I find religious ceremony insultingly detrimental to human progress. I believe mindless devotion to superstition is a waste of time, energy, and billions of dollars every year.
My parents are devout lutherans and democrats, but I don't know how to tell them that despite my similar upbringing, I've become an (almost) unabashed atheist. It would break their hearts, and I don't know if I can do that.
