anyone have a good blessing/prayer/poem for solstice?
i know it's already passed, but my family wants to acknowledge it when we do our holiday dinner (none of us are religious at all, it's more about the tradition and being together).

any suggestions of something we can read before we eat?

1. I kinda like this one:
Winter Solstice Blessing

May the Sun in it's heaven
sink to it's southern extreme
And on the third day be reborn
to once more begin it's northward trek.

May it, in it's rebirth and renewed strength
cause your crops to grow abundantly
And your livestock to multiply and fatten,
So that you and yours enjoy a prosperous year.

2. From last nights Ceremony
Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

7. Favorite solstice prayer
This is a favorite of mine, I've made an e-card out of it the past several years. I don't remember where I found it. It's kind of a combined solstice/Christmas prayer in my mind:

I salute you! There is nothing I can give you which you have not;
but there is much, that, while I cannot give, you can take.
No heaven can come to us unless our hearts find rest in it today.
Take Heaven.
No peace lies in the future which is not hidden in this present instant.
Take Peace.
The gloom of the world is but a shadow; behind it, yet within our reach, is joy.
Take Joy.
And so, at this Christmas time, I greet you, with the prayer that for you,
now and forever, the day breaks and the shadows flee away.

8. This one is for Thanksgiving, but it could be adapted, and is overall properly reverent.
