1. they are claiming it as theirs
they want it to smell like them only

then they eat it.

either that or it is some kind of ancient ritual that dogs remember from when the earth was ruled by dogs. :P

:hi:

2. 'Splain me this: My Lab only eats food she takes away from the cats.
I can open a can of cat food and put it in front of her. She'll ignore it and take a half empty one away from the cats. I can offer her STEAK and she has no interest at all unless a cat is eating it.

Does she think she's a cat? Her new favorite "ball" is a destroyed skein of yarn. (I'll know we're in trouble if she tries to get into the litter box. :scared:)

My beagle will eat anything. And by anything I mean ANYTHING. Indeed, I worry about my safety, should she get hungry while I'm asleep.

So, no rolling on food here. Just eating, and lots of it!

The beagle's worst nightmare:

5. Do they share a dog dish?
Often times dogs who share a food bowl will "take" a portion and "claim" it away from the central food source.

My 6 year old mutt is newly single after the loss of my old Jack Russell so there isn't any more competition for the food anymore but she still takes her food out of the dish and carries it into the other room. Now it's a habit. And when we get another dog, she'll probably "teach" it to the pup....

7. oth my dogs do the same thing -- they bring their food into the
living room, spit it out, and then eat it. Repeat till finished.
But no rolling.

8. Do I look like the dog whisperer?
Oh, that's right. You would not know that because I have never posted my picture at DU. Perhaps I do look like the dog whisperer. You actually have no way of knowing.

That aside - no idea.

13. I love that guy. Cesar is a genius.
I love that he can solve problems that people are freaking over in a straight forward, quiet way.

14. I love Cesar too...But I don't like that I'm not supposed to love on my dog...
...except when she's done something good. I spend most of my time at home with her on me loving on me. It's the best, but according to him I'm not doing her any favors.

10. Your dogs may be bragging!
Wolf behavior involves a lot of sniffing of each other. It's how pack members find out where the others have been, and what they've been up to.
