Update on my father...

First of all, thank you to everyone who expressed good wishes and prayers for him. I appreciate it; and they seem to be helping him in his recovery. Second, thanks to ALL DU-ers, just for being here. I love you all.

Dad's wife called earlier to tell me his recovery from surgery is going well. He's already flirting with the nurses in ICU, and that's a good sign. Nothing keeps the old rascal down for long. B-) His jaundice, caused by the cancerous mass blocking the bile duct, is clearing up rapidly. The resected mass was sent out for biopsy, but no word yet on conclusive findings. We're all cautiously optimistic, but his wife jokes bitterly that if anyone could exhibit EVERY possible complication of a disorder and its treatment, it's my Dad. We'll have to wait and see...

I'm sorry I somehow missed earlier posts about your Dad. My Dad had a serious heart condition that put him in and out of hospitals all my life I know what it's like to watch a the man you look at with respect, the man who represents strength of character, laid low, even if only for a while, in a hospital bed.

But my Dad kept coming back as strong as ever for many many years and looks like your Dad also has that sort of strength and good medical care and that is indeed wonderful and hopeful.
