Her results came back Benign!
:woohoo:
:bounce: :bounce:

A friend of mine had a lump checked out. I posted about it a week or so ago. I've been worried. She got the results back! It needs to be watched, but it's benign!

Please celebrate with me!

And if you're a woman who hasn't done a breast exam recently, please do a self-exam!

6. great news!
my sister recently had to have a double mastectomy, is still going through post-op radiation, so the issue is on my mind every single day. It is SO IMPORTANT to do self exams, and if you're a 35-40 year old woman, to get mammograms! It's not fun, but sooo necessary!

I hope you and your friend can relax a bit over the holiday, w/o that issue to worry about....

40. Definitely something to celebrate
Just lost a niece to breast cancer, she was only 31. Left behind a 4 year old son.

I guess I have a hard time with cancers in general.

Here's the reason why.

After someone is diagnosed with cancer, if you have the money i.e. insurance then patient spends $100's of thousands of dollars. There is no guarantee on how long the treatment will keep that person alive. My niece went through treatment for 3 years. She never really had much of a life, she was sick from all the treatment. Her dad had a ranch that he had to sell to help cover the cost of her treatment. Sure they got to spend an extra 3 years with her, but at what cost. To see her suffer throughout those 3 years.

People without insurance well I don't know what they do. I'm one of those people. If I discovered a lump what am I suppose to do??? I don't have the money for treatment. And I don't think I would want to spend the money anyway.
Just to prolong my life for a uncertain amount of time.

Anyway, I'm very happy for your friend. I hope she has many long years ahead of her. She should be proud to have such a good friend like you.

P.S. I was a little apprehensive posting my concerns and considered whether I should or not. I guess I decided that maybe someone could help me with this.

I certainly didn't want to rain on you and your friends good news.

41. You're definitely not raining on anything.

The money issue in treatment is a very real, very serious issue. You're not the only person I know who has said they wouldn't want to spend the money on cancer treatment.

To be honest, with all of my other health issues, if I were to be diagnosed with cancer I'd be very unlikely to go for treatment. I'd take that as a clear sign that it's my time to throw a party and go. :)

I'm very sorry about your niece.

42. Excellent news!
Just as a reminder to the guys, breast cancer is rare in men, but can occur. It usually strikes between ages 60 and 70.

If you happen to notice lumps, inward turning nipples, or any other abnormality, see your doctor right away.

Do it for yourselves and your loved ones.
