I dunno what all the fuss is about. Last year he was 12-8, 3.56, and lifetime (11 years) he's 103-89, 3.69. Pretty good numbers, but they hardly make him seem like what Coletti called "arguably the best starting pitcher on the free-agent market." But, like four clubs were after him, so... :shrug:

20. That's the thing...

decent numbers'll make you the best starting pitcher on the free-agent market. Ain't a whole lot of 'em floating around this year.

Fukudome (if that's what it is -- I'm too lazy/tired to look it up) has a career BA of .305. OBP is close to .400 and his slugging average is over .500. And again, I'm too lazy/tired to look it up, but I think he's a leftie.
