My wife was using adobe illustrator (xp) and everything has been wider ever since. Anyone know what happened and how to fix?

1. OK
That might be due to the screen resolution. You can change that under the control panel then display.

2. Is it an LCD or CRT screen?
I ask because LCD screens have fixed resolutions they work in, if you change it to an unsupported resolution, weird shit happens.

6. Do you have a flatscreen, only inches thick?
A CRT screen is like a television screen, with a tube, etc. a flatscreen is either an LCD screen or plasma.
