I'm awake because I am waiting for my wife to go into labor. What are your excuses?

3. Yes indeed- I have waited up so many nights because it is so
Edited on Tue Aug-05-03 11:49 PM by Redleg
hard to sleep. Since I can go in to work whenever I want, I stay up messing around at DU. I need to get a freaking life! I'm sure after the baby is born I will take a sabbatical from here. That way all the newbies will be able to accrue more posts than me.

5. How exciting! Is she having pains at all yet? Or is this the due date?
I'm always up late. I'll sleep when I'm dead...but it's only about 10 here anyway.

9. She has had some pains and false labor during the last two weeks
and we have gone into the hospital only to be released hours later. She is 38 weeks along and the baby is doing fine but these "practice labor" things are driving us nuts. Luckily, my wife seems to be more emotionally stable about this than I am.

14. LOL! I was present for one of my best friend's kids being born
Until her water breaks it mostly isn't the deal..even then they'll have you wait at home where it's quiet and relaxing...but as much as pregnant women are gorgeous, there is nothing quite like a man on the brink of fatherhood...you're doing the part well..I wish you the best. Are you all prepared with you tennis ball for labor? My friend liked scalp massages best during early labor...all the way until she reached the point where she said .."get the fuck away from me"..."no rub my head"..."no leave me alone"..."can you lower your voice"..."sorry I can't hear you...speak up!"

6. Insomnia
just way too much going on right now and I got a bizarre "second wind" around 10:30.

Your excuse is MUCH better. Best to you and your family. May all go well and may we hear good news from you sometime tomorrow!

8. I have summers off!!!!! Ha!
if you don't count my other jobs..food shopper, cook, house keeper, driver, decorator (yes my bathroom came turned out just lovely!), and let's not forget the endless, endless laundry. Besides that, I've been a lazy slob this summer. Ahhhhh, the good life!
:P
Hey, Redleg, is this your first child? Best wishes, let us know all the gory details!

11. She's not currently in labor but she is in week 38
and has been having 'false labor' for the last two weeks. We have had to go into the hospital twice only to be released after a few hours of observation.

I will certainly let you all know how it turns out. After that I probably won't spend much time at DU.

13. It's 1pm and I'm at work, thanks for asking....
Good luck with the labour....I've been waiting for Blair to go into Labour for years now, but it looks like he's sticking with his new brand of new-Conservatism...

16. I am at Work!!!!!!
My first week of C shift. We do 24/5 technical support. Gotta love some of the emails that come in from Europe/Africa/Middle East, those customers who are not native English speakers. Some of the phrasing is pretty funny, but I bet they do a better job of English than I would do in Swahili or whatever.

I thought that the adjustment would be worse than it has been. I usually crash hard around 5:30 then get my second wind around 7:30 when the day people start to trickle in. Just glad to have a job, had been unenjoyed since November of last year.

17. I'm up because I'm unemployed and ...
with the lack of structure I sleep about every other day now. I have very irregular hours now. I spend a lot of time on DU - it's my primary news and editorial source. The wealth of intellect and talent here is just - overwhelming! And very refreshing.

Congrats on the new addition to you family!

Lind
