5. That's interesting.
I thought that when dogs were doing it when they were fixed it was a dominance thing. I just had never seen a fixed female dog hump stuff.

15. Oh, that doesn't seem too bothersome. The beagle used to try to
hump my arm when I was lying on the sofa or in bed. THAT is not allowed!!

8. I've had a couple of spayed females that would hump another
dog on rare occasions. I don't know why they did it. Maybe it was a dominance thing.

10. Yep.
My sister's chocolab was neutered, and humps the hell out of a vellux blanket almost every time I visit.

She calls it the "blanket dance" in front of my young niece, so she doesn't know what is going on.

It is sort of funny.

11. the "blanket dance"
That could work with humans who might be "walked in on", too.

20. Yes, it could.
The dog is so funny. He gathers the blanket up with his paws in a big heap, and gets to humpin'. It is hilarious.

22. My daughter recommeds the 90 Pound Hound and his 'blankey' get a room
He has a special blanket friend.

The humping thing is also a dominance demonstration. And my mutt loves to be the boss of his blankey.

13. Yes, the beagle does.
Not so much now as when she was younger. It's an alpha behavior, a sign of dominance. The beagle is not supposed to do it--or other alpha behaviors--and she's pretty much stopped. You really need the dog to think of you as Alpha, so let your dog know--as kindly as possible--that this is not acceptable.

18. My female Rottweiler is spayed and she humps male dogs.
And I also had a gelding who tried humping all the mares in the pasture.

19. My dachshund Stash would hump anything even after the fixing.
But it was kind of interesting to watch him. He would hump his blankie for a while, and then disengage while having this "why did I do that" look on his face, and just walk away looking confused. It cracked my Dad up.
