"Crossing the Ditch".A heads up for adventure junkies and the curious.
Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 05:20 PM by Esra Star
These two adventurers decided to paddle a canoe between Australia and New Zealand.
This feat has not been achieved before in recorded history, so that's why they
wanted to do it.
The "Ditch" is also known as the Tasman Sea and locally as the "Creek".
Anyhow now that they're past half way and only 1000 miles to go check the progress.
Enjoy.

5. Yes that was a big circle they did.
It appears that they were paddling in the right direction, but the current
dragging on the barnacles meant that they were effectively going in reverse.
They seem to be making good headway now.

3. Uh, don't you suppose that the ancestors of the Maori paddled some kind of boat,
probably a canoe, from SOMEWHERE (and maybe even somewhere farther away than Australia) to settle New Zealand, a whole bunch of years ago?

Therefore, it's been done.

4. I did say "recorded" history. And yes the Maori people did
come from somewhere, but I don't think it was from Australia.
The differences in these two races(?) are substantial.
They may have made the journey in some sort of canoe though.

8. You too, Esra. I'm sure that it's very difference on your side of the world.
I can't quite imagine having Christmas in the summer... Sounds quite nice, actually. :)
