Help me out here. I really don't get it.
Edited on Sat Dec-15-07 08:31 PM by Tuesday Afternoon
If this topic needs to be moved, I will let the moderators decide.

My observation is this:

"voting their conscience"

Is it only acceptable to do this if your candidate is the one everyone else thinks is politically correct?

It seems to me that the same people who are saying to vote your conscience and vote for ________
are the same people who "knock" people for voting for Nader.
I didn't vote for Nader, but I really don't understand this mindset.

Maybe, I just need another drink.

1. It's called a double standard.
And people do it all the time without realizing it.

4. To me, "voting their conscience" means
voting for the candidate, that you know in your heart, is the best choice.

The one that has YOUR best interests at heart.

To me; that's ___________

But that's for you to decide on your own. ;)

Cheers!

22. It is not any one thing said tonight as much as I have noticed it
over the course of a couple of months. It is like a vibe. I think it is more from one group than the others.

6. Like "conscientious objector", it's another phrase meaning "cynical coward".

10. the phrase "vote your conscience" is comparable to
"cyncial coward" and "conscientious objector" ....???

I am sorry. I don't follow your reasoning on this. Would you care to elaborate?

15. Up yours, pal. And I mean that with love
It's not your fault; you're both young AND Canadian.
I guess in Canuckistan the media only mentions the heroes of war who conform to the blood letting stereotype.

Review stories of guys like Sergeant York or Muhammad Ali. Any Quaker dating back to the Revolution. Quakers on both sides of the border were responsible for the Underground railroad. Seventh Day Adventists served as no combat medics and helped advance trauma medicine tenfold. They have hospitals, in case you ever wondered what the "Adventist" part of Hospital names were all about. These are all people who are declared C.O.s and yet heroic. Cowardice comes in all genres, but COs have to be pretty brave in the first place to step up.

14. So, we shouldn't vote for the Democratic nominee?
Unless he/she is the person that we really really really wanted? Is that it?
