What was your best Christmas present ever?
For those who celebrate this sorta thing, of course.

For me, Best ever was the birth of my daughter. (Dec. 23)

Second best: Getting the divorce from her mother some years later and finally being rid of her manipulating family. (Dec. 20th)

1. I didn't think so at the time, but in hindsight...
I'm fairly certain that the best present I got was when my ex left me shortly before christmas. :P

3. Mine was much the same...
In hindsight, she did me a favor, although I didn't want it at the time because of the kids.

4. Well, thankfully I hadn't gotten married to this one yet...
we'd been talking about it, but something kept telling me to hold off. At first I just thought it was 'cause we were too young and all that jazz. Now I think my brain was just trying to warn me about her in particular. :)

2. My daughter was born 6 years and one day ago
I'd count that as #1.

Besides that, I would say a rare copy of a Katharine Hepburn movie I'd been searching to find for years.

5. None of my kids were born near the holidays...
May, October and September. My best Christmas gift? Hmmmm.....

The Christmas my father died, he gave me a diamond ring that was my mother's.

I think that was very special and it meant a lot at the time and now means even more.

I don't wear it but I look at it every once in awhile and feel his love... again.

14. I remember that one...
had to get all the proprietary Tandy peripherals because a regular mouse and joystick wouldn't work with it... had that nifty Tandy 3-voice soundcard that could do wavetable stuff... but only 3 notes at a time.

Got some fond memories of playing the old adventure games like Monkey Island and the Sierra Quest games on there. :)

8. The one I'm getting this year
My daughter can't keep a secret. I think she would have better luck if she simply refused to discuss the holiday.

But on the upside, my wife found the perfect gift for me and it was not very expensive. I'll be really happy.

My mom went into the hospital on 19 December 1974 for a biopsy for breast cancer. It came back negative. It was the only Christmas present I wanted that year and Santa delivered.

I'd have like 40 cents by now. :)

It's Guybrush Threepwood from the early 90s adventure game http://www.worldofmi.com/thegames/monkey1/index.php">The Secret of Monkey Island. After he's just been shot out of a cannon. His head's stuck in the ground, and his bum is on fire.

21. I'm sorry. The thing is, to me, it looks like a bird masturbating backwards on
a lit spliff, and exhaling chugs of smoke. I may or may not be the only one who thinks so. :smoke:

19. My train set when I was about 8
My dad had set the whole thing up in an oval with a figure 8 inside. The engine had stuff to add to make smoke and I had a log car that loaded and unloaded with a switch. That morning my mom claimed she forgot her glasses downstairs and told me to get them. I whined and whined because I just wanted to open presents, but went downstairs and there was my train.
