I don't usually get to because I'm usually the one working who they're complaining about. But it was my day off and I was in the grocery store in street clothes.

A guy was working a dolly of stuff on one of the aisles - he was taking pains to assure that he was not in the way and at this time of year, you have to stock during the day as well as at night because things get sold so fast.

So some bitchy lady had to wait about an nth of a second to get by and snarled, "Why can't they just do this at night?"

I said, "Yeah, they're just service people. It's not like they should be allowed to work normal hours or spend time with their families like us!"

She was not amused. The guy working was, though. O8)

4. I hate the people who don't have the stones to phrase their bitchiness in the first person.
"Why don't you do this at night?" That would still be rude, but at least it would be direct. Using the third person as if they can't hear you when clearly they can is cowardly.

5. Good deal!
I hate complainers like that. I always try to be nice to the stockers and cashiers.

I got a lady a couple of weeks ago in the men's section of Ross Dress For Less. First it's a cheap place to get clothes because it's such a mess and you really have to dig through stuff sometimes because of dumbass customers who can't put things back where they got them. I was looking for men's polo shirts and she came around the rack and saw where someone had just left a girl's white parka with a fur lined hood hanging in the wrong place. She said, "Well, I don't think this is a man's coat." I was pleasant and agreed because of the above stated reasons. She then came back with, "Although there are some that would wear it." in a really condescending tone. I replied and said, "Yes, I'm sure there are and I frankly would have no problem with it." She got a little snotty and said, "Well, I guess it takes all kinds." To which I replied, "Why, yes, it does." I love it when these holier-than-thou snotty southern women think they can make comments like that and think they are safe just because they are in OralRobertsville.

6. I stood up for two employees at my favorite bookstore a couple of weeks ago.
This guy was in there just freaking out over a special order that had been delayed or lost or something. I mean, really, in the scheme of things, dude, is this the biggest issue in your life? If so, thank your lucky stars.

He just kept harping and harping on them until I finally said, "You know, I think you've made your point. Even people who work retail can understand after the third or fourth time." After he left, the guys behind the counter burst out laughing. They know that I had been in the trenches forever too (I've shopped there for a long time and we've exchanged stories). Argh, it still just drives me nuts to see people being mean to retail workers at Christmas, especially since there are so many temporary employees.
