I need help on finding information...

about how Democrats have helped homosexuals for the past 40 year or so. The reason behind that is because a homosexual just wrote an article in my college newspaper saying that he's a Republican because Democrats have never once helped homosexuals. Ever. I was suprised when I read the article because I know that was a blatant lie.

Now, except for the obvious about how I can respond to him by saying Dubya wants to ban gays from getting married and such, is there any other information I could get on how Dems have helped homosexuals?
