Poll question: Texas DUers, where do ya live?
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 03:10 PM by elfwitch
What large metro area are you closest to?

Where do you actually live?
DFW - Plano, Richardson, Carrolton
San Antonio - Boerne, Kerville, Bandera
You get the point...

34. Corpus here also
But I hate it here. I really need to move; can't say why I haven't except that I haven't found a job anywhere else. I don't like Texas very much either except for Austin. I only moved here because the job I got had benefits and my previous job in Florida did not. I figured I would be here a couple of years, no more. Now it is almost 7. I am a part-time grad student in the hopes of getting a better job, preferably in some other state.

I'm in Beaumont myself- born and reared. Though I did spend 3 years in the bowels of Hell, otherwise known as Lubbock, Texas.

There's nothing like living in Cancer Alley! Though, it is nice to live in a place that people don't look at you funny if you tell them about the rice balls and shrimp creole you had for Christmas dinner!

27. Forth Worth
Born in Houston (lived there for two months)
Raised in San Antonio (til I was about eight or nine)
Lived in Fort Worth ever since.

Non-Texans: If you ever get the opportunity to come to north Texas, go ahead and spend an evening or two in Dallas (just so you can tell your pals you did); but for some real fun, hit downtown Fort Worth on a Friday or Saturday night (forget Billy Boob's- it's more a cartoon than reality). There are some great clubs and restaurants that you'll never hear of in a tour guide-- The Library, 8.0's, Cafe USA, and my favorite ('cause the nurses from the medical district hang out there and I love a women in scrub's :) ), Billy Miner's.

The new Bass Performance Hall is a gorgeous thing to behold at night and we've got a world class zoo.

Boots are now passe, just in case you thought you'd bring that pair of Dingo's from 1983 that you've never worn...

You know where the freaky guy lives right off the main highway? The one who believes in UFOs and all that? He's sort of a cult celebrity or something....

My grandmother's old house is down the road from that-- kind of yellowish cream looking, 1940s era. My grandfather built it. I think my uncle still lives there. Haven't seen him for years. Jack Rennscheidt.

47. Rockwall, a suburb or Dallas. Home of Ralph Hall
The man who finally declared that he truly is a Republican. Nice man when you talk to him, but is a Bush loyalist. He told me he has known the Chimpster since he was a little boy, and still refers to Bush as a "good boy." The president of the United States - a good boy. That really left me shaking my head.
