Oh, great! Just in time for the holidays and I have a "frozen shoulder"!
Starting P.T. Monday. Doc read me out for not coming in sooner. I'm in so much pain I'm actually thinking I'll return to that lunatic naturopathic doc who does acupuncture for pain but put me into "unnatural" positions on her exam table. Hurt like hell and I told her to stop and just do the acupuncture. It kinda helped my golf elbow a couple of years ago...

Anybody got good suggestions for me?

1. Do what the physical therapist tells you to do.
If you're supposed to do exercises at home, do them. Trust me, you don't want to end up requiring shoulder surgery.

2. Doc has ruled out surgery based on my xrays.
I always do what the PT says. It takes forever but I know it's for the best. Besides, some of it is nice, like the ultrasound machine thingy.

3. I went thru that last year
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 05:15 PM by Avabea
My orthopedic Dr gave me a cortisone injection in the shoulder and it helped a lot.
The xray never showed the problem but the MRI did. I had surgery and now it's fine.

6. I simply cannot go thru any more surgery. I've had several abdominal
surgeries already this year and the thought of going back to Yale-New Haven Hospital depresses me beyond belief.

Thank god the xrays showed no spurs or tears. I have to believe I'll get better with PT.

4. I had never heard of frozen shoulder
until a co-worker was diagnosed a couple of months ago.

She is undergoing physical therapy and says she is improving.

Hope you'll be 100% very soon!

5. it can last for a long time ...
I had it for about a year, though it wasn't excruciatingly painful for all of that time.

7. that's the problem with frozen shoulder...
people wait too long to get it checked out and that's how it becomes "frozen" just do everything the PT asks you because manually breaking up joint adhesions hurts like a bitch. I once saw the quarterback for our football team cry in a room full of people when they were trying to restore his wrist mobility. DO YOUR REHAB EXERCISES!!!

ok I'll get off my soapbox now :)

9. I had one several years ago...a few months of home exercises and weekly physical
therapy helped..but I really got better when I volunteered for a trail crew and had to hack and shovel for 6 hours a day..good luck, I know how frustrating this can be.
