OSU's Clarett eligible for NFL draft
Has the NFL ever won a lawsuit?

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/nfl_clarett_dc

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A federal judge threw out an National Football League eligibility rule on antitrust grounds on Thursday in a decision that opens the door for U.S. high school athletes to turn professional without first attending college.

The ruling in federal court in Manhattan, which would allow high school athletes to turn professional without first attending college, makes Clarett, 20, eligible for the 2004 NFL draft.

In her decision, U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin found the eligibility rule violates antitrust laws by excluding certain competitors from the market. She set a conference with lawyers to discuss whether Clarett was entitled to damages.

We believe today's ruling is inconsistent in numerous respects with well-established labor and antitrust law, and we will seek review of the ruling in the Court of Appeals. We fully expect our eligibility rule to be upheld when this case is concluded," an NFL spokesman said.

3. oh well.
so now the NFL can go the way of the NBA, with younger and younger players, not ready for prime time. moeny says that the players association and the NFL write this into the next Collective Bargianing Agreement, The fact is that the NFL is so muc hbigger, faster and nastier than College that few athletes are ready to make the jump. Why would a team pay someone a million dollars/year to sit on the bench for two or three years? a high schooler can come into the NBA and make an impact. A high schooler can come into Major League Baseball and make an impact. I would pay to see an 18 year old get hit coming through the line by lavar arrington. You thought Penn State had good linebackers, Maurice? wait till you meet linebackers who look like Ohio State's Defensive linemen, and are faster than you can even imagine.

4. NFL appealing lol
It's a shame, but then I live in Columbus. :(
MC was hurt a few times and didn't even play in all 13 games OSU won a couple years ago. He played none last year.

I wish him the best, biggest signing bonus ever, cuz he could get hurt real fast. Sorry too that his free education wasn't good enough. (maybe OSU will give it to me) :)

5. He is going to flop if he goes pro
He's good, as a college back. He still needs a couple more years of experience, especially in the maturity department. Linebackers in the NFL, at this point, will eat him alive.

6. yesh, there was some quote
I think it was Lavar Arrington, saying that he hoped the NFL would let him in, cause he wanted to beat the crap out of him in the first game.
