A Remake of "SALEM'S LOT" w/ Rob Lowe, Donald Sutherland & Rutger Hauer?
The folks at TNT have excitedly shot us a trio of stills from the upcoming Salem's Lot four hour mini-series. Regardless of whether these glimpses have appeared on the web already or not, they're new to the Corner so check 'em out (click on the pics to enlarge them).

This retelling of Stephen King's vampire-ridden novel showcases an ensemble cast, most notably Rob Lowe as Ben Mears, Samantha Mathis as Susan Norton, James Cromwell, Dan Byrd, Andre Braugher, Donald Sutherland, and Rutger Hauer. Tobe Hooper directed the original film back in '79 utilizing scribe Paul Monash's adaptation. The Craft's Peter Filardi has penned this update with knockout cinematographer Mikael Salomon (The Abyss, Far and Away, Arachnophobia) at the helm. Salomon's directing resume reflects plenty of television work including titles like Band of Brothers and Alias.

2. This didn't need to be made
But of course it was inevitable.

Salem's Lot was actually the only 'Made-for-TV' adaption of a King Novel that I thought was any good.

Rob Lowe?
I'll be rooting for the vampires this time around.

3. I utterly disagree
My mom and I both HATED the original tv version. Re-read the book and then watch it again. They combined characters and changed things that didn't need being changed. It rates second (next to "The Shining") in my family as the worst King adapation.

4. The book was quite different
And I liked it better than the movie, but I still think the movie was WAY better than ANY of the crap TV adaptions that have come since.

But since you and Mom hated it, I'm clearly outnumbered.

;-)

5. I love Salem's Lot
The part where the lady vampire puts her lipstick on after she bites someone is one of my all time favorite parts.

LOL
