???? For Dallas Duers
How far is Galveston from the airport? I'm going on a cruise next Dec. Flying in with little time to spare & don't want to "miss the boat". Any advice for a Californio?

1. Dallas? Try Houston.
Which airport are you flying into? Hobby or Intercontinental? Hobby is close to downtown, but IAH is way out in north suburbia.

I know, I'm a jerk.

About 60 miles from Bush :puke: Intercontinental and maybe 40 or so from Hobby.

do you mean how far is Galveston from the houston airport? If so, which one?

Or do you mean how long is the flight from dallas to the Houston/Galveston area?

4. I hope you're not flying to Dallas to take a cruise in Galveston
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 12:55 PM by PDittie
As others have posted, Dallas is about a 6 hour drive up (that's north) I-45 from Galveston.

Galveston is about an hour from Hobby and about 2 from Bush Intercontinental (see? another reason not to fly in there).

Get there (to Galveston) a little early and walk in the Strand district -- old warehouses gentrified into shops, bars, restaurants, etc. If you really have some time take a tour of some of the period homes -- Ashton Villa, Bishop's Palace.

edit: to clarify

5. OK OK I'm going to Houston.
Pretty obvious that I've never been there eh? I will be flying non stop from Sacramento so I think I'll going to the larger airport but really don't know for sure.

6. If you're on Southwest, you're probably going to Hobby (HOU)...

Otherwise, probably Bush :puke: Intercontinental (IAH).

7. Southwest flies to Hobby and Intercontinental.
HOU is Hobby; IAH is Intercontinental.
