Zaphod Beeblebrox Cast
Sam Rockwell, star of CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND and known to science fiction fans as Guy the security guy in GALAXY QUEST, will be sipping Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters shortly because the actor has been cast as Zaphod Beeblebrox in the HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY movie. The two-headed President of the Galaxy is one of the two that pick up the last Earthman, Arthur Dent, and his companion Ford Prefect after the Earth has been destroyed by the Vogon contruction force. Martin Freeman, Mos Des and Zooey Deschanel have already been cast as Arthur, Ford and Trillian, respectively, in the film.

Good choice, imo. I loved him in both CONFESSIONS and GQ.

1. Hope this flick is good; I hate it when good books are made into bad
movies! Anyone see the miniseries from Brit TV?? It was hilariously bad....like real early Dr Who but worse *lol*

4. Come on, the TV series was great (although deeply tacky)
I'm guessing you mean mid-period Dr Who. Didn't look like sixties Who to me, more like season seventeen Baker (Horns of Nimon etc)

8. I agree
I liked it, although the special effects leaved something to be desired.

2. My God! I'm reading "Hitchhikers" right now...
Cool. Because I'm finally reading the Hitchhikers trilogy. I must be one of the 5 or 6 people around who hasn't read it.

Great news about the movie. Yeah, I like Sam Rockwell, also. Very good in "Confessions" (and he has a nice ass, also. :-)

10. Don't forget the fourth of the trilogy
"So Long and Thanks for All the Fish"
I heard a recording of it read by the author, it was wonderful! Aurthur finally shacks up with a nice girl and naked flying ensues.

12. There's a fifth book in the trilogy (the title eludes me right now)
Just pass me a bottle of that Ol' Janx Spirit.

I need a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, or you can smash my head with a large gold brick (wrapped in a slice of lime)

15. I have a copy at home, Just couldn't think of the name - so I looked
on the internet under Douglas Adams.

The fifth book was indeed (as I suspected, but didn't want to say until I checked) - "Mostly Harmless".

16. Actually it was a Dirk Gently book
"The Salmon of Doubt" that was unfinished. The 5th book in the trilogy is called "Mostly Harmless". Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0345418778/qid=1076006888/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/102-4844047-6978501

6. I'll have to agree with you
But then again, I never was a fan of the Rings books. (now the movies? Yeah, I love them. I chalk that up to being a Peter Jackson fan though.)

Now that "Wizard of Earthsea" and HGTTU are pending, what's next? I humbly suggest "Ringworld".

19. OMG...I wasn't gonna click the link and was wonderin' who would play......
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 02:29 PM by jus_the_facts
.....Marvin...but I did click it just in case the article told who...and this is what the last paragraph says....

Filming starts in April with Garth Jennings directing. So who's playing Marvin the Paranoid Android?

WHOA :wow:

on edit...Marvin is my favorite character in the book....I think the perfect neurotic voice for Marvin should be played by Michael Palin! :D

21. Stephen Moore, the original voice, is still working
why replace him? He was perfect (in fact, they ought to get him to do Eeyore too, who has to be a part inspriation for Marvin).
