I need Xmas ideas for my GF...
It is that time again DU, the time of year you get to help me figure out what to get my very gorgeous, beautiful, sweet, kind, and perfect GF for xmas...

last year I got her a pink iPod loaded with some of her favorite music as well as some sappy love songs, and a necklace.

Keep in mind, I am madly and deeply in love with her and have no idea what to get her to express that.

Thanks.

My husband has given me some great art pieces as presents.

7. I considered that, but...
as much as she loves it, and I have tried to figure it all out, I am totally inept at art so I think I would make a bad decision.

Politics, Literature (right now she is reading my copy of The Assault On Reason), Music (she plays the piano and we are going to see the Minnesota Orchestra play Handels Messiah on Sunday), Art, Dogs, Kids, family, friends, and just being a beautiful, sweet, and adorable girl.

Please, please....nothing for the kitchen or house. Last year I got a seal a meal for Xmas. Great, only used it twice. How about tickets to a place she'd like to visit? Tahati comes to mind...but of course you would have to go with her.

32. Here is why I was considering something together...
Right now she is finishing up grad school, so we spend a lot of time apart.

Time together is not very common, so I think it would be really nice to spend some time with her, and only her.

Spend all my time and energy on her and letting her know how special she is to me and how much I love her. To me it sounds like a good idea.

And I read further on that you've been friends for a long time and have been together for about a year and a half - like others, I thought for some reason it was relatively new.

I was considering taking a trip, just her and I, to Whistler Blackcomb to go skiing, she has always expressed interest in learning, and I am an avid skier and former instructor. This would be a romantic trip.

Either that or a trip to someplace warm.

is this a good idea?

65. Here's one of my favorite
Lost in the forest...

Lost in the forest, I broke off a dark twig
and lifted its whisper to my thirsty lips:
maybe it was the voice of the rain crying,
a cracked bell, or a torn heart.

Something from far off it seemed
deep and secret to me, hidden by the earth,
a shout muffled by huge autumns,
by the moist half-open darkness of the leaves.

Wakening from the dreaming forest there, the hazel-sprig
sang under my tongue, its drifting fragrance
climbed up through my conscious mind

as if suddenly the roots I had left behind
cried out to me, the land I had lost with my childhood---
and I stopped, wounded by the wandering scent

Not a love poem, but I can relate to the forest and memory.

71. I'm taking my girlfriend shopping for new clothes
That way we spend time together and she gets something she wants and can use. We agreed to exchange small gifts like dollar store stuff that will be a surprise. I politely asked her NOT to buy me anything more since she has limited means.

For her birthday I got her a Calphalon cookware set that she had been talking about. Talk to her and see what she is interested in or wants.

I'm not much for surprises. I like to get useful things for people. I have a feeling she's going to surprise me with something she made herself, like a scarf or something.

Actually, would your girlfriend like a romantic vacation somewhere where the two of you can be alone? I've done that once. Plan it out on your own for a time you know she's free and surprise her with it. Get a jacuzzi room, champagne or wine, and some scented candles.

How about a gift certificate to a day spa.
Since she's working so hard, a day of pampering would probably be very appreciated.

78. I have considered it
it scares me to even think of it, but I have thought of it.

I am trying to figure out if there will ever be a perfect time, or if I should just bite the bullet and go for it, inspite of life and future, and past...

80. What she wants
This may sound simplistic but I was always so surprised when my bf actually got me something I said I wanted. We all make statements in casual conversation saying we'd like this or that. When I actually got one of those things, I was amazed. He listened. He heard me. That was what made the gift meaningful
