6. More or less...
Inasmuch as squirrels are vermin and not to be cosseted and pandered to, I suppose, yes.

Baby *everythings* are *not* cute, doubly so for human babies. (I haven't yet seen a cute baby human, although most people seem quite enthused about the HO-scale little old men...) Most newborn anythings aren't really worth seeing, even cute things like kittens, puppies, and foals.

8. ALL squirrels are cute!
Whenever I walk through a park, and I'm doing so intentionally having left from my apartment, I take a pound peanuts to throw to the squirrels.

Sometimes, I take other nuts, like walnuts, filberts, etc.

I love squirrels!!!

10. I just had a deja veux just now
When I read your post and the one before it, I actually knew what you were going to say about feeding the squirrels.

We have lots of cute fat squirrels around here and I feed them nuts too. I think they're so cool. They will come closer to me now when I have the nuts in my hand.

12. It's so fun to feed them!!
I love it. Walnuts, pecans, peanuts, hazel nuts, etc.

Though I have yet to try squirrel toqueing.

But maybe this spring.

18. I agree Rab
Squirrels are awesome :).

The ones that live in the Public Gardens and on the Boston Common (in Boston obviously) are extremely trusting of people and are very outgoing (they'll come up and take the nuts right out of your hand if you hold it out for them).

Chipmunks are fun too :).

I try to read your post in an innocent way, but I simply can't. Am I a danger to society? :spank:

24. Me too!
I've got a family of them in my attic, but I've put enough screen up there that they are kept away from the stuff they could damage. It's fun to watch the young ones frolicking in the trees during Spring:-). I really don't understand why some people can't abide them. Probably because so many Americans are so possessive and controlling. They want to chose EXACTLY what elements of nature exist on "their" property. It's much easier and less stressful to learn to enjoy all nature has to offer, IMHO!

11. I'm sorry but
squirrels are rats with fluffy tails. In my neck of the woods they are overpopulated and like to climb up gutters and bite their way into your attic and then bite their way into your home. We need some wolves or something to balance our local ecosystem.

14. I'm with you.
They are pretty common in people's houses here, and they'll give you an unreal allergy attack once they get in, too.

I think it's cool that we have all different colours of squirrels hereabouts (grey, red, black, white, and variations), but do there have to be so *many* of them?

PS stumblnrose, I always heard that as "Squirrels are rats with good PR." ;-)

16. hehe
it sounds to me as if in your area it is the humans that are overpopulated

nature shouldn't have to yield to humanity at every opportunity

We've got bunches of coyote and fox in the Interior Dept. Prarielands that are only a few miles from my house. We'll export some to you, if you want. Gee, i'm sure it's perfectly legal and all.

15. I feed a gang of 15 to 20 squirrels in a local park.
Each one takes food directly from my hand. Some climb on my leg. Some climb into my lap. Some sit on the table top beside me while eating. It's always fun to lure a new one over to the "dark side."

20. I have a squirrel feeder in my backyard.
I fill it daily with peanuts. I've been doing it for about five years and the neighbors haven't complained once.

... urinate constantly, and are chronically hyperactive! I had to look after a nestful of them at a wildlife clinic once.
