My county Dem meet-up...very disappointing.
Just walked home from a meeting in town, about a dozen of my little county's Democrats had a "meet-up". So disappointing. I spent half the meeting trying to bring people up to speed, amazing how aware you become by being on DU. :) Anyhow, mostly (as I'd feared) people who just wanted to commiserate on the travesty that is our current administration. A few local busybodies who wanted to "fund raise", wanted to send out a mailer telling people what a moron Bush is. Well of course he's a moron, but really... this is Colorado after all. Our caucus is in April....

I dunno. I felt sorry for our party chairman (turns out there is a party chairman), explaining that with the $400 in the county party coffers they'd be concentrating on getting representatives elected in the non-presidential races, getting people to actually participate in the caucus. People asking "is there money for (insert reactionary idea here)", "I think we should run an ad in the paper that says (insert expensive, bad PR move here)".

People were genuinely astounded that I was actually just walking through the streets of our tiny town, block by block, to register everyone in town. They looked at me like I was from the moon. I mean good Lord, there's only like a dozen streets.

Just venting. Thank goodness for DU, thank goodness I've already got the "thing" I'm doing (apparently for the people who know about it, "Robb the Vote" has sadly stuck). If nothing else, at least I know I'm doing something.

1. Well, at least there's more than just you and Mrs. Robb...
...you know you're not alone out there in the wilderness.

Maybe you guys could rent a van and transport people to the polling place - save 'em the walk. Give 'em coffee and donuts.

2. What county?
Sounds like El Paso. Teller perhaps? My favorite one has always been Saguache... pronounced sah-wash. And we make fun of the French for their crazy pronunciation.

5. When I talked to our clerk
on Friday, there were 27. In CO you have to physically take the sucker in to the town clerk and show ID, so this is a small percentage of the people I've gotten forms to. At the end of next week I'll be through town I expect, so I'll check my list with the clerk and start the follow-ups. Then they get to see me again when I tell them about the election in April (town election). Then they see me again, and again... I've actually got a pretty good system to get them all down there by November, I think.

6. That is incredibly admirable
I am very proud for what you are doing.

Keep it up Robb, we are going to win this election.

One street at a time, one town, one county at a time...

Rock on'
