I'm getting so excited

I get to go back to Vancouver for ONE night in a few days. I can't wait, it's ten days away and it's only one night, but I really wanna go!

My parents think I'm nuts. First I'm driving to Penticton for my sister's wedding then I'll be up bright and early the next day to go to Vancouver. It's a four hour drive to get there. THen the next day I drive the four hours back to the Cabin, stay there for a night. ANd head back to Alberta the next day.

I don't care though, I'd rather go home for a night rather than hang out at the cabin for two extra days doing nothing.

I'm gonna start sending my portfolio around in March, so hopefully it won't take more than four months to get a new gig. I want to work in NOrthern Ireland though. EIther way we'll see, I don't want to take off too early though, I do have a responsibility to my employer to stay for at least as long as most others.

Have you ever been there? I've heard it's beautiful. Well, that would certainly be somewhat more exciting than where you're at now.

My Mom's family is from Belfast. I'd like to visit it. But truly I see myself in Larne or Choleraine. Any nice mid-sized town of about 20,000, right on the ocean. Get a nice little place and a crappy row/sail boat.

It's be nice for just a year.

I've emailed a couple editors there to ask about the journalism situation. The one who answered told me it was tricky to find work, but with experience I should get something eventually.

So in march I'll be mailing away tons of stuff there to numerous papers. Hopefully after a few months, pestering will have paid off.

I haven't been back to Europe since 2000. I must go again soon. This country is driving me crazy. I need to be in a country where there are topless women on TV all the time and no one freaks out.

Go this summer for a week, esp. if you have family there you can stay with. Then you can really get a feel for the place and check out your journalistic options.

Four mountain passes that are scary as hell. One was closed last week because of avalanche danger.
