Yes. I have surrendered myself to the last frontier of nerdlydom. And I have no regrets.

Anyone interested in a party?

4. This angel fears to tread, and so should you
Look, I'm pretty steeped in the Stygian nerd pit: I rewrote Return of the Jedi--convincing myself it was canon--and am currently running a countdown for the next Batman flick. But I've got my limits. I lost both a cousin and a good friend to that infernal enterprise (seriously).

You're dealing with the Ring of Power. Let it alone. Read Rilke. Take a nude swim. Eat some good pasta. Just don't pick it up.

6. advice:

don't roll Alliance, Horde is so much cooler. Don't roll PVP server unless you like getting ganked/ganking. Don't level in Stranglethorn Vale unless you have high level compatriots. Don't roll RPG server...that is just sad. Roll a hunter or a warlock or an enhance shammy if you like to pwn face (kill things quickly and effeciently). Roll a resto shammy or a paladin if you like to heal things but they are annoying to level. Don't let anyone convince you that you are not a "real" player unless you are raiding BT/Hyjal. WAtch out for endless scams, always check prevailing AH prices before buying off trade channel. Don't bother buying gear for upgrades until lvl 50 at least. Pick profitable professions like herbing/mining until 65 and then decide if you want to go with another for gear/buffs.

have fun :D if you roll alliance on Anetheron or Horde on Bonechewer post the name here and i will go gank you <3

7. Too many cautions and pre-cautions. Come play Guild Wars for free
Sad how Blizzard allows the games they make to be overrun by soulless children.

8. agreed, although if you find a cool guild that makes all the difference.

Cool guildies will console you through the endless corpse camping and ganking and even come avenge your death.

I tried guild wars, alas me and my game developer fiancee found a few tricks and pretty soon my dervish and his necromancer became so OP the game wasn't quite challenging enough. I played for about a month and a half but it didn't have the staying power of WoW. I like the pretty pretty WoW environments and the pets :P I know I know it's girly!

9. My Guild is one of the oldest and largest , formed during beta days 2004-2005
Still play every week. We have whole families who quest together. It is not the rush of getting to the end of the game, it is how you get there. They have tanked rushing, so you have to work now to gain towns. And hard mode has added a new dimension.

I will not pay Blizzard a penny to play their games.

But, 7,000,000 monthly paying customers worldwise keep Vivendi alive.

12. Guild Wars was fun at first
but I got a little bored around level 9-12.

Of course, I didn't do much PVP and whatnot, so that might be why.

14. What server are you on?
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 10:41 AM by sleebarker
We took a break for about a year and a half and then got pulled back in and just recently got our old 60s up to 70. Still wearing the tier 2 pieces we'd gotten before leaving, though.

I play a warlock and my husband is a pally.

I imagine nothing will convince me to give up the three piece Nemesis set bonus until I get into Kara and get some tier 4. Either that or the frozen shadoweave set - just got tailoring up to 350 and am actually alt-tabbed out while I'm on the way to Shattrath to specialize in shadoweave tailoring.

We're Alliance on Kael'thas.

19. It's an online role-playing game.
The sort of thing nerds (like myself) love. ;)

You create a character in this gigantic online world, run around, do quests, slay monsters, get treasure, etc. There is no 'end' to it, because the developers constantly add in new content to expand the life of the game.

It's not a bad way to get entertainment, particularly if you're on a low budget. Something to do at any time for a reasonable monthly fee. :)
