Dog owners- question about Christmas kennel reservations???
I was invited up to my brothers house for Christmas. I usually have no problem getting reservations for my six dogs if I call a couple of weeks before the stay. I haven't gone out of town on Christmas while I have had pets, usually Thanksgiving & the fourth of July. Imagine my surprise when I was told my normal Kennel is booked solid. The other two Kennels in town are also full.

How far in advance do you schedule Christmas accomodations? Is Christmas the busiest time for animal boarding?

1. Fortunately we can take ours with us
That kind of sucks that you can't find get in.
Any chance you can get a friend to dogsit? For what you would pay to board 6 dogs I would think you could get a responsible teen/college student to come by and take care of them.

2. Holidays are busy times for kennels
For a while, I was contemplating opening a kennel. I would book at least 6 weeks before Christmas and other major holidays.

4. I called about a 4-5 weeks ahead to board our three from 12/26-12/31
But when we had seven dogs it was a challenge, and not procrastinator's game, as I often found out. :eyes:

5. How very timely
We started searching for a kennel a couple weeks ago, and were supposed to meet the owner of one of the more highly respected in the area last weekend, but the *&%#er never called back to arrange a time. We were told to call before we came over to ensure he'd be there and have yet to receive a response.

6. I hope it isn't too late for you too!
I didn't know for sure if I was going out of town so I delayed. I really hate that my normal kennel was booked up, the lady who runs it is really good to the animals. My old guy Buddy actually jumped out of my pickup truck window as we were leaving the last time I picked them up followed by Larry. They really seemed to have enjoyed it there.
