1. A working class hero is something to be, a working class hero is something to be.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=njG7p6CSbCU

As soon as your born they make you feel small,
By giving you no time instead of it all,
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can't really function you're so full of fear,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you're so clever and classless and free,
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
There's room at the top they are telling you still,
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,
If you want to be like the folks on the hill,
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.
If you want to be a hero well just follow me,
If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

5. I was 19 yrs old when I heard...
I was in New Port Richey, Florida visiting my grandparents. I woke up and came out to the kitchen table to have breakfast and my grandmother asked me if I knew who John Lennon was. I said, yes, of course, why? and she handed me the newspaper...

Spent the day on the couch listening to beatles songs...

So sad...

6. This day always bums me out
I always thought that Lennon's murder was a perfect symbolic beginning for the 80s; the voice of peace and cooperation literally gunned down by a jealous psycho whose only answer to his feelings of inadequacy was violence.

9. I was in college...
some guy came in the student lounge crying. Another guy asked him why, and he said because John was killed. The guy laughed and said "so what"?

He then got punched in the face by the crying guy.

It was a bad day indeed...solemn mood on campus.

12. I was pregnant
And driving to work when I heard the news. I was crying so hard I had to pull over. Some cop pulled up behind me to see what was wrong. I think he panicked when he found a pregnant woman doubled over her steering wheel wailing. He kept asking if I needed an ambulance.

I finally gasped out that Lennon had been killed. "Oh. Right. Bummer", he replied, and gave me a Kleenex before returning to his patrol car.

13. I actually feel like I know/knew him...
There's no other celebrity/Icon that I'm now or ever have been as enamoured with as I am with John. It's completely unexplainable... Peace to you, John...where ever you are.

15. RIP John
I was at a friend's house about to go out for the evening. I was so shocked, wondering why would someone do something like this to John? Its hard to believe it's been that long ago. O8)
