Does anyone do this?
I'm interested in getting started but am unsure what kind of GPS I need. Any suggestions?

1. We go geocaching pretty frequently

MG Jr., 4, is a HUGE fan, especially when the caches contain toy cars. I don't know what kind of GPS to recommend, but I do know that ours are pretty old and work just fine. I think anything that can pull in coordinates and show you a map should do well. Perhaps some suggestions online? :shrug:

I saw a presentation on it the other night and now I WANT!
Looks like a great way to spend time outdoors. I'm looking at the 149.00 range Garmin but still not sure.

3. It's a LOT of fun

Hiking in any weather and treasure hunting combined. You don't even need to have a little kid along--treasure hunting makes anyone act like a little kid!

Checked with DH--we have a pair of Rino 110s (or maybe 120s)--whatever, they're so old we might as well call them Dinos--VERY primitive and they look like Army surplus from the Korean War compared to what's out there now.

Did the presentation talk about travel bugs? DH's coworker asked him to start a travel bug--actually a travel monkey (6" stuffed fella that screeches when you poke him in the chest) to see if they could get him to Tierra del Fuego. Or maybe Easter Island. Yep, there's a cache on Easter Island!

4. Yes, we did a lot of geocaching last year before my daughter

moved. She had a new, small hand-held GPS, worked great. Sorry, don't know what brand. There are caches hidden all over the world.
