Do you ever get depressed because you try to live a very healthy life, but
you still get some kind of pain and suffering, over which you have no control?

How do you cope with pain or undesirable feeling that you seem not to be able to control by discipline, concentration, meditation, or other means?

1. Sounds like depression
Might want to talk to a professional about that. Depression is an organic problem that often can't be controlled by discipline, concentration, meditation or other means.

2. Thank you, I know you may be right.
I am taking anti depressants. And I'm also doing everything in my power to control it as well, such as hours and hours of exercise, grams and grams of fish oil and Vitamin D, and many things to counter it.

But I appreciate your comment a lot. The people closest to me don't seem to care or even notice.

5. Maybe it's not me that I'm worried about, but my precious family member who

has cancer. It's so hard to accept this is happening.

I would rather have and die from his cancer than see him suffer from it.

9. Nah. We can do heavy.
We're the lounge! We can handle anything. :D

You might need to figure out inside yourself if it is you who are depressed, or if you're anxious over your family member's cancer.

That you would rather have cancer and die than to watch your family member suffer it might be a symptom of low self-esteem. (Better you to die than them, because they're more worthy of living?)

Your family and friends are living their lives, dealing with their stresses, etc. I'm sure they care about you, but may not notice how you're feeling unless you point it outto them. They may see it, but are willing (and trusting your ability) to let you work it out on your own, until you ask them for advice or help.

You have to learn to care about you. Exercise is good. Eating healthy is good. Doing things you enjoy, just for the enjoyment of them is also important.

11. It's a good topic.
We all post some heavy stuff now and then. The lounge is very at providing a bit of support and perspective. It's not all copy-cat posts and kitten pictures. :)

8. Healthy living and depression are not the same thing.
This might sound trite, but you can only control what you can control. The rest is shit that you just need to Deal With. If you need help Dealing, get some help, whether it takes the form of psychological, physical, pharmaceutical, spiritual, or any combination of those.

Concentrating on your physical health is a good start, though. It's not the only thing, but it's SOMEthing. It's a good start, but it's only a start.

Maybe you should talk to a professional...

10. Yes.
I eat healther, excersize more, don't drink or smoke, and yet I'm the least healthy person in my entire family.

They eat horribly, some drink, all of them smoke heavily, and none of them ever excercises. Yet I'm the one with the disability and chronic pain. They'll all outlive me no matter what I do.
:(
