I feel that cheapens Karma. Anyone who would turn karma into a commodity is an asshole.

2. Karma, if you believe in it, cannot be cheapened
It's just a rule, like the law of gravity. Everything that you do will lead to a reaction, and the action has the effect of binding you to the material world in order to experience the reaction.

It is, however, rather presumptuous to suggest that departing a cafe without leaving a tip is bad karma. It would be like me trying to critique a proof of Fermat's last theorem.

3. I liked using the straight-up approach
My tip jar always read "Tip me or die of thirst".

4. i generally don't tip the jars anyhow
this usually only comes up at Starbucks. i'm not gonna fucking tip them when all there doing is filling my cup with $2 coffee - that's assuming i'm at a Starbucks where they actually pour your coffee for you; many are self service, so your tipping them for accepting your money.

5. I don't see how it cheapens karma.
Truth in advertising, actually.

7. I've never seen such a tip jar, but
it's my understanding that if one does good for the purpose of seeking karma in its Western interpretation, one will not receive it. One should do good for the sake of doing good, not for the reward.

I feel the same way about those who solicit tips. If you have to ask for it, you probably haven't earned it.
