Everytime I see that, I get chills. She probably knew she shouldn't go with strangers but you can tell the way he walked up to her like that, that he startled her and caught her off guard. The poor little thing was probably so confused she didn't know what to do.

I hope she is returned unharmed.

2. Notice how quickly he went about things?
He gave her no time to think. That would appear to be part of the plan.

So very sad...

I do hope and pray for her safe return.

4. Criminals do, indeed,
work that way for the most part, they're very quick and give you no time at all to think about anything, much less what's really happening. I'll never forget how I learned that lesson the very hard way! Suffice it to say, I'm not nearly as trusting anymore. That saddens me, frankly, but it's the way it has to be.

6. Of all the things for a pre-teenager was to deal with
Being prepared for such a remote possibility is important.

She was shocked and quickly relinquished her self to the perp. I would have like to have seen her rotate her arm (really a simple move) to escape his grasp, scream and run. Shoot she was a lamb and I don'r want to believe it but most eleven-year-olds are ill-equipped to think of self-preservation unless taught.

7. I noticed a few things about this as well
A few points:

The girl was hanging out BEHIND a car wash. That was not on her way home as was reported by her parents.

The mother in an interview was saying how this 11 year old didn't look 11, in fact she went so far as to say she was rather ... ahem ... mature for her age and noone would assume she was 11 from looking at her.

The approach of the man, the way they interacted, the fact that she didn't struggle and in fact seemed to go willingly with him made me wonder a few not so very nice things.

Honestly, my thoughts on the matter after seeing the video and hearing the parents talk is that she was turning tricks behind that car wash and found a john. What happened after that is anyones gues. Did he go partake of services and then she ran away? Did he in fact hurt her and dump the body? Did she see the news, find out about the Amber Alert and decide she was better off not going home?

Maybe I'm a bit more cynical than others. Maybe I'm completely off base. Then again, maybe I'm right.

The 16 year old hookers in the mall of America.

All those girls from The Jerry Springer show.

This girls PARENTS!

I hate to think so low of a person I have never met but I just wonder WHY an 11 y.o. was wandering around alone? I mean come on! There is info misssing here and I hope it proves me very wrong.

I also hope this girl shows up at home ... soon ... safe and sound.

10. I know she didn't struggle with the man but
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 03:25 PM by cat_girl25
he didn't give her the option of struggling the way he came up on her, imo. I saw on MSNBC where they showed the golf course which is right next to the car wash so maybe she was taking the more scenic route. From that view, it didn't look like the back of a car wash would normally look. I hope she is found okay.

11. You're totally wrong
I'm good online friends with a woman who knows the family. This is a small, sleepy town and that was just an ordinary little girl.

Authorities have a suspect in custody. He has a lengthy record and lives just a few miles from the scene of the crime. No word on Carlie's whereabouts.

He ought to be hung by his nuts until dead. I'm sorry for being so blunt but you should reap what you sow. There is no excuse for this type of crime.

But no 11 year old of mine will be going anywhere alone. Hell, no 14 year old of mine will be doing that.

19. my kids are all 18 or over
when they were young teens we read a report saying kids that age were more susceptible to being victimized and were more vulnerable than little kids.

Young teens and their parents think the kids should have more autonomy. Sexual predators (interviewed for the report) said young teens were very easy to exploit and abduct because they are often out alone or in small groups and are very naive.
