Let's Hear it for Screaming Eagle...
Now going for $850 per bottle at auction...(which is quite a steal for this wine, but the price is sure to climb)

Link

Compare to the price at this bistro:

Todd Jurichs Bistro

$2400/bottle

Is it sent via Airborne delivery?

I imagine there are 101 reasons to buy it.

Does it go well with Campbell's?

I'll stop now. I have to pack my bad jokes for the trip.

3. Gotta remember, I'm next door to Ft. Knox now, but!
I grew up within spitting distance of Ft. Campbell.

I chose a cleaner military career. The USAF.

16. Two Buck Chuck is as "fine" as I can afford
There's a Bush in the White House, remember?

I still remember the Six Dollar a Gallon Wine Fests in the Goodfellow AFB student barracks. The Class VI Store sold several of the more...uhhh...popularly-priced vintages, and the analyst students made it a point to sample them all. Among their features were "lack of solid objects," "no notes of petroleum products in their bouquet" and "unbreakable plastic jug, for when you drop it."

I remember they tasted somewhat like wine and gave a pretty decent buzz, after the first couple of quarts.

11. OK. I'll play nice.
A couple of interesting wine tours you can take here in the good old US of A without ever touching California. You may be surprised at the quality of some of the wines you'll find.

Check out the Missouri Wine Trail (or road maybe, I forget). It includes around 90 wineries. Some are surprisingly good.

You can also enjoy some pleasant surprises in Arizona - of all places. You can start with Kokopelli Winery in Wilcox and continue to The Village of Elgin for some pleasant surprises. Their motto: "NAPA makes auto parts. Elgin makes wine."

Either one of these can provide you with some good -not great, yet - wines. They also have a knack for names that make for great conversation.

12. My wife absolutely loves St James Winery
outside of Rolla, Missouri. She really likes their $3 a bottle blackberry wine and always has me bring back 2 cases on my trips out there.

13. Next time you're out that way, try Gloria Winery.
It's right on I-44 between Rolla and Joplin as I recall.
